About Kevin

Kevin Phoenix is a gifted musician who was born and brought up in Manchester. He is a complete musician and an institution in himself with equal capabilities in writing lyrics, music composition and singing. His songs appeal to people of all genres of music.

Born in Manchester, as the tenth child into a family of thirteen, Kevin had a wonderful childhood around his folks. Kevin composed and sang his first song at the age of eight. And since then there has been no turning back. He acquired his first guitar, an EKO, brought with money he earned doing odd jobs over a period of a year. Kevin spent his early days by engaging himself in music busking and that helped him gain confidence performing before audience. With time he blossomed and realized that music was his vocation.

Kevin joined his first band “Amarillo” as lead guitarist. It was a Brazilian Group which performed regularly in the Manchester entertainment circuits. Soon after he was introduced to Tony Hennigan, who ran a project “Young Gifted and Green” to encourage upcoming talent. Kevin played to him and Tony liked the music and Kevin got the chance to play some quality gigs around Manchester. Kevin formed the band, "Free Spirit", with which he recorded his songs,  "Sweet Girl", "Catherine Wheel" and "Losing Touch". He formed another Band “The Charming Peters”, an indie pop band that was the first band to play their own set in Yates pubs all over the north of England. Kevin was the lead vocalist and penned some of his wonderful tracks with the “The Charming Peters”, the prominent ones being “Shine On”,  “Looking at you” and “Take Your Father's Hand”, that were recorded in the studio. Shortly later, the band came to an end.

A true family man and a father-of-four, Kevin produced soundtracks for a successful Eric Cantona documentary on the MUTV. In 2006 Kevin created history of sorts by writing, composing and singing two songs, one for each of the famous Manchester football teams – Manchester City and Manchester United, for which he got lots of stick from the Press at the time. A friend of \"Take That\" star Jason Orange, Kevin’s musical talents has always been encouraged by his elder brother, Patrick Phoenix, who has been his inspiration and the producer of almost all of Kevin’s albums.

Kevin firmly believes that along with entertainment, music also has the power of healing and is to be used for the welfare of the society. He is currently involved with the Future Directions CIC, where he offers music workshops for Mental health needs
Learning disability, Autism, Forensic history, Complex health needs, Acquired brain injury, Older people, Dementia, Profound multiple disabilities and Young people in transition
